Chapter 7 Is Liquidation Bankruptcy

The number one question people have in Chapter 7 bankruptcy is: "Can I keep my property?" This is a legitimate question because, in theory, Chapter 7 requires the turning over of assets. Certain property is intended to be turned over and used to settle a portion of the debts. However, there are steps that can be taken to protect your property. In fact, average Chapter 7 filers are able to keep their property, including their homes and cars.

What Debt Do You Need to Discharge?

Is it mostly credit card debt? Is it medical bills? Is it a mortgage? Is it student loans? While there are some debts that cannot be discharged through Chapter 7, the discharge of other debts will make the management of those debts much easier. Student loans, for example, typically are not subject to debt discharge in Chapter 7. Credit card debts and medical bills are. I will educate you about what debts can be discharged.

The road to debt discharge through Chapter 7 bankruptcy is not a particularly long one. You will find that your debt problems are usually over in less than half a year. That's how soon you can have the fresh start you need.
