Stop Creditor Harassment – Boston Attorney

Stop the Calls and Stop the Stress

Much of the stress of debt comes from the constant calls from creditors. It's not just the quantity of the collection calls either. It's the way that the callers treat you, as if you are intentionally not keeping up with your debts, as if you wanted this to happen. In reality, having to talk to these people is just about the last thing you wanted as far as your finances are concerned. Thankfully, there are steps you can take to stop creditor harassment.

I am Boston bankruptcy attorney Kenneth C. Ackerman. I understand the stress of debt that comes from creditor harassment. I want to help you overcome that stress by overcoming your debts. Call me at 617-892-4334 (toll free 866-936-5506) or contact me by e-mail to schedule a free initial consultation.

Bankruptcy Stops Creditor Harassment

While ignoring the phone calls may work for awhile, you probably want a more permanent way to stop creditor harassment. Filing Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy may be the permanent solution you need.

When you file bankruptcy, an automatic stay goes into place. This automatic stay requires all creditors to stop contacting you immediately. The only legal way for a creditor to circumvent it is to go to court and file a motion for relief, which is extremely rare. Ignoring the automatic stay could make the creditor subject to harsh lawsuits, so that is also rare.

Of course, stopping the calls is one thing. You want to resolve the underlying problem: the debt. That's what bankruptcy is for. By filing bankruptcy, you can overcome your debts and get your finances in order so you never have to answer another collections cold call again.
